Creative workshops

The creative workshops will offer informal education opportunities to young artists and other professionals working in the creative industries, whilst also providing a chance to learn more about culture and art, using photography as a socially effective medium which is profusely present in our lives. Since it is currently not possible to study photography at higher education level in Latvia, these workshops have been organised with the aim of boosting knowledge and understanding of the medium, and to introduce current trends in its application. The workshops will explore theoretical and practical issues related to photography, for example, the role of photography in an institutional context, curation of photography, exhibition production and book making. The workshops will be led by Tuula Alajoki (Blacklight Festival, Tampere) and No Routine Books publishers Vilma Samulionyte and Gytis Skudzinskas.
The workshops are open to young people in secondary and higher education as well as adults currently practising photography as a hobby, amateur photographers, and anyone else with a lively interest in learning more about photography, its diversity and its creative application.
